Soldiers go to war...fight for their country...protect democracy...suffer overseas...suffer when they return home. The Pentagon wants to ban them from smoking in uniform.
Without question, smoking is bad. Duh. Everyone knows that. Soldiers also have a much higher smoking rate than civilians. Should tobacco be their guilty pleasure while they risk their lives at war? Or is it the right call to ban tobacco from them since they are also putting their lives at risk from the tobacco? What do you think?

Another example of us becoming a nanny state. I can see trying to eliminate second-hand smoke, but since these guys are in uniform all of the time, especially in combat zones this is extreme.
They're adults, and if they can still pass their PT test let them be.
Shane, I agree with you 100%!
Shane .If they have signed up to go and possibly give their lives who cares if they can`t pass their pt`s. we have all these idiot`s making these laws who never spent a day in the military including our illeagal pres.
I think it is ridiculous to ban our soldiers from smoking. Yes, it is unhealthy, but than so is fighting a war. And who wants soldiers that are even more stressed by not being able to smoke?
Ha! Anonymous #2 is such a moron. What is illegal about our president? Wait...never mind. Obviously someone who can't spell or abbreviate properly can't be expected to make an intelligent argument.
First of all, the whole smoking thing is just dumb. It's as harmful as obesity. People die every day. That's aside from the point. Hey, they're out there fighting our war, so what if they want to smoke. Let them, they're doing what we're not, they're stressed out, let them have there nicotine, it's not going to get any better for them. That's just my input. On a side note, they're making everyone out to be fragile. Good going government. You have no idea what it's like to be the regular joe, or the in the military. How could you possibly think to ban something that you have no idea in?
I am against smoking in any forms. Escorts London.
How stupid.
That's stupid... I wonder how many in Pantagon smokes...
