Same-Sex Marriage Ceremony

Once again, Iowa has found itself in the national spotlight. Monday morning, couples of the same sex lined up in counties recorder offices to apply for their marriage licenses. I followed a middle-aged couple from Urbandale, Denny Phillips and Patrick Schrock-Phillips. They were married in a religious ceremony three years ago at a Des Moines church. But that was, of course, before Iowa legally recognized same-sex marriage.

Today, they felt a bit like ping pongs. To apply for their newly-legalized marriage and the waiver they would need to avoid waiting three days before they could get married, they began in line at the Polk County Administration Building, went to the Polk Co. Courthouse, went back to the Admin Bldg, went to their church to get married and then returned to the Admin Bldg to turn in their signed certificate from their ceremony. They honeymooned after their religious ceremony three years ago to Montreal and Quebec. They pre-honeymooned last weekend to Boston. And to celebrate after their ceremony today...they planned to go to brunch and then go back to work.

Here's the raw video of their wedding today...

and the story I did for the Channel 13 News at 6.

I find queer and lesbian marriages repulsive and sickening, but what I think is not important, what God say about same sex marriage is the only thing that matters. Men with men and women with women is an abomination to God. (Book of Romans) It is against everything natural, and the price we will pay will ripple down for generations to come. There are penalties for this, our country will reap these penalties. But I personally believe this is a sign of the times we live in and those who sanctify this evil including the Media, will be held to the highest penalties.

I think the gay marriage issue is wrong. We didn't even have a chance to vote on the issue. The judges offered up an "opinion" and that's just what it is, an opinion, NOT LAW as the governor has stated. This is wrong, God is still in charge and when I read in the Bible what it says about gay marriage, He is not pleased about this. When the election comes up next time I hope we all remember the names of the elected officials who voted in favor of this. Then we will take the proper action against them.

My...what nice, loving Christians we have on board today. Leave the judgement to God, and mind your own business. Religion has no place in politics.

Why the hell has our money always said in god we trust, who do you suppose passed the law to put this on. as it would seem money is not the root of all evil .our judges are helping out now.

Separation of church and state was decided long before a bunch of scared Christians put 'In God We Trust' on our money.

Equal rights for all.....it doesn't get any simpler than that.

How come the ones who claim to be Christians act the least Christ-like?
