Christie Appearing for King Fundraiser

Guess who's coming to dinner?: We've been waiting to find out if New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will do more while he comes to Iowa than just speak at Governor Terry Branstad's education summit. Apparently, he will. Christie will headline a fundraising dinner for 5th District Republican Congressman Steve King (who is running in the 4th District next year because redistricting eliminated the 5th). I'm told the dinner will start at 5:30 pm, Monday, July 25th (after he speaks at Branstad's summit). Businessman Denny Elwell will host the event in West Des Moines. Tickets are $250.

It sounds like King is taking his race seriously against former Iowa First Lady Christie Vilsack, who is expected to announce her candidacy Tuesday a.m. in Ames.

We can only hope that Mrs. Vilsack will get the support and publicity needed to gain King's seat in Congress. Steve King is a hack.

I hope this means that Steve King or Christie are covering most of the bill for his travel, since he is likely to spend more time there and shouldn't be considered an expert on education at the ed summit anyway.
